Pat’s work in primary treatment has provided him with an opportunity to have a number of clients transition to Rockland Recovery over the past 18 years. Successful artist and muralist in his native city, Los Angeles, for the last 13 years. Steve ran a successful studio and gallery space, worked on television sets, and has been involved in the city’s creative culture for years before his journey with New Life. He has been around highly structured sober livings for the last 6 years committed to self-improvement and all others who come into a process like New Life. At our sober living homes for men in Los Angeles, we incorporate the entire family into the structured recovery process. Different SLEs have different house rules designed to help residents remain sober. Rather than establish a set of rules and expect residents to follow them, we have built a system that teaches residents why certain processes are in place.

The New Life approach to how sober living houses work is dramatically different from most for a number of reasons. These can include an emphasis on age-specific housing and an active alumni community. A Rockland Recovery alumni, Howard went back to college and underwent CADC training in recovery. He has spoken on panels, in treatment centers, community centers, schools, with parents, students, teachers, law enforcement and mental health providers to give insight on issues that are impacting young people today.

While living here you will take part in chores, therapy, exercise, life skills groups, recreation and free time. You’ll also have evening activities outside of the house, such as a 12 Step group, recovery activities and community activities. Of course, being in this type of environment makes relapse much less likely as well!
